Recently a field visit was made to scope potential locations for a couple new bronze plaques that will be placed on the Baum Bicycle Bridge. The plaque will be installed as part of a re-dedication of the bridge to better call attention to the accomplishments and legacy of longtime bicycle advocate Alex Baum. A replica of the plaque was presented at the Blessing of the Bicycles during Bike Week L.A. back in May. We’ll keep you posted on the plaque and re-dedication ceremony as more information becomes available.

You know I’ve been saying for years what the LA River really needs is new plaques on the bicycle bridge over Los Feliz Boulevard. Why these people keep doing all the stupid things at the river is beyound belief!! And of course it will not take long for these beautiful new costly plaques to be covered in graffitti if not stolen. You folks need to get a grip and stop your foolishness.
I think it might be worth considering a material other than bronze, since there is an epidemic of bronze theft resulting from the high prices of the constituent metals of bronze. Try a Google of “bronze theft” or “stolen bronze plaque.”
