They braved gloomy skies, misting rain, wet roads, and chilly conditions. They were there to get their bikes blessed, and no amount of inclement weather was going to stop them.
At 8 AM this morning at the Good Samaritan Hospital, the Annual Blessing of the Bicycles took place to much fanfare and jubilation. LADOT Bike Blog was there too.
Approximately more than 100 bicyclists showed up to get their bikes hallowed on this rainy morning. But more than just a blessing, there was music, free food, and lots of free swag from Metro.
LACBC, The Bicycle Kitchen, Incycle, and LAPD’s bicycle squad were also in attendance. Incycle was even offering free tune-ups for bikes. Council member Tom LaBonge was also in attendance, and a variety of media outlets were there to cover the blessings.
LADOT Bike Blog even got his bike blessed today.Make sure to come out tomorrow for the Downtown Bike Ride! People will start to gather at the Olvera Street Plaza around 8:00, with the ride leaving at 8:30. It will make a four mile loop around downtown (map) and finish back up on Olvera Street.
