Last week, LADOT Bike Blog covered the installation of Sharrows on Fountain Avenue as part of the City’s long awaited Sharrows pilot project. Sharrows migrated their way down from Fountain to 4th Street this week, where work crews began installation Wednesday. The Sharrows on Fourth will cover approximately 1.8 miles from Wilton Place to Commonwealth Avenue. Though not fully installed, these Sharrows should be completed by the end of the day. By the close of business on Wednesday, Sharrows were in place on 4th Street from Wilton Place to Western Avenue.
4th Street is doubly deserving of Sharrows, as the LACBC is actively campaigning for 4th Street to be converted to a Bicycle Boulevard. LADOT Bike Blog hopes that the installation of the pilot project is only the first step in seeing this goal achieved.
LADOT Bike Blog would like to thank everyone involved in making these Sharrows possible. The next site to receive Sharrows early next week will be Reseda Boulevard up in the Valley.
