The LADOT Bike Program offers a free – and widely utilized – bicycle sidewalk parking program for business owners, patrons, and concerned citizens to request bicycle racks. This year to date, we have installed over 480 of our inverted U racks in front of cafes, restaurants, markets, convenience stores, and a whole host of other businesses throughout the City of Los Angeles. As we have detailed in a past post here, requests go through a process where we check to ensure adherence to our sidewalk parking guidelines.
Once a month, we provide a list of marked locations to our contractor who then heads out to each location to install the racks. This list is fairly representative of what locations will be getting a new bike rack within the next month or so. Please note that a rack on the “marked” list is likely to be installed.
The LADOT Bike Blog is now happy to provide this list for the general public so that you know whether or not your requested rack is likely to be installed. This information will now be updated monthly under our “Parking” tab here on the Bike Blog. Just go to “Parking” –> “LADOT Sidewalk Parking Program” –> Marked Rack Locations to see this month’s list.
This monthly updated list is now available thanks to your comments and suggestions here on the blog. We appreciate every comment and try to incorporate them into future posts, so keep those great ideas coming!
