As previously posted, in mid-October Los Angeles was recognized by the League of American Bicyclists as a Bicycle Friendly Community at the bronze level, for its continued efforts and improvements in bicycle infrastructure, encouragement and education. While LADOT is the lead agency responsible for the implementation of the 2010 Bicycle Plan, the LADOT Bikeways staff recognizes that this accomplishment would not have been possible without the support of the Mayor’s Office and work of multiple city agencies, advocacy groups, bicycling clubs and major bicycling events. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to making Los Angeles a more bicycle friendly city and we were glad to be able to celebrate this achievement with individuals and organizations at MacArthur Park including, Councilmember First District Ed P. Reyes, Deputy Mayor for Energy and Environment Romel Pascual,LADOT General Manager Jamie de la Vega, Los Angeles Bicycle Advisory Coalition Chair Jay Slater, Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition Planning and Policy Director Eric Bruins, LADOT Senior Bicycle Coordinator Michelle Mowery, and Transportation Engineer Paul Meshkin. LADOT is proud of the goals achieved thus far and we are excited to be moving forward with future projects that will continue to make the City an even friendlier bicycle community.
