It’s said that all good things must come to an end, and so this last Wednesday saw the last ride of this summer’s Tour LaBonge. Gathering at the CD 4 district office on Fountain Ave, the ride proceeded on a 12 mile loop through Hollywood.
The gathering had a festival atmosphere in the CD 4 district office headquarters, as if the riders were determined to squeeze the most enjoyment out of the last ride of the season.
The first stop on the ride was at Paramount Studios, in front of the famous Bronson Gate. Council Member LaBonge, always a font of city fun facts, informed the assembled riders that the Bronson Gate was inspiration for Charles Buchinsky’s stage name, whom you might better know as Charles Bronson.
After another pitstop at Pinks, the ride proceeded northward up Fairfax until we reached Hollywood Boulevard. This was the really fun section of the ride, and most onlooking tourists seemed absolutely baffled to see a troop of bicyclists 100 strong ride down the middle of Hollywood Boulevard.
As with all Tour LaBonge rides, this one ended with free ice cream sandwiches.
Up next on the bicycle agenda for Council Member LaBonge are bicycle boulevards. The Council Member has already voiced his support for bicycle boulevards on 4th St and Warring Ave, and is also working with City Engineering and LADOT for a road diet along Rowena.
