Coming a bit belatedly on the heels of LAist’s The 10 Best Bike Rides in Los Angeles, the LADOT Bike Blog wants to know what your favorite ride is. What bike route do you like best?
It can be for work or for utility or just for fun.
After everyone has responded, we’d like to create a map of the responses to share on our blog. Personal information will not be shared.
I live one block and a half from the Woodman Avenue station of the Orange Line. My favorite ride, one which I take every weekend, is the bike path along the Orange Line. I have taken to Chatsworth Station and Warner Center on the western end of the line and to Chandler and Victory in Burbank along the Chandler Avenue extension to Burbank.
I like the San Gabriel river trail. A good workout is climbing up to the observatory from the San Fernando valley starting on crystal springs drive. If I have a full day, I like to ride PCH from Pepperdine to the outlet mall in Oxnard, which is about 100 mile trip
Mt Hollywood Dr through Griffith Park (the section that is closed to vehicles). Be that as it may, the trail above is along Canoga Ave looking north but can someone tell me in area that average nearly 100° during the summer that there is no trees on the west of the trail to shade in the afternoon sun????

I really enjoy my short daily commute to work from Echo Park to DTLA. Apart from the satisfaction I get from cruising by jammed up vehicles on Glendale Blvd or Temple, I love feeling wide awake and energized when I get to my office. It’s only 3 miles away, so I can arrive just before I get to the sweat point. Plus, those new super-wide bike lanes (aka, “Bus Only Lanes”) on Sunset are excellent!
